Juniors Freestyle Kickboxing Course
Martial arts classes for children aged 6-13
Red Dragons Martial Arts serves the communities of Bristol, we are located in Bishopston, Henleaze and Horfield. The junior program really focuses on developing the entire child through grading, competition and our Champions for Life program. We also aim to develop leaders through our SWAT team. Our SWAT team are given responsiblities within classes and are encouraged to be leaders and positive examples to all of our members.
We grade every three months and our school is part of the WUMA. We are a Freestyle Kickboxing school and follow that grading syllabus. Each grading is separated into the different programmes and it is always an incredible privilege to see the children working so hard to get their belts.
When our members are suitably experienced and show the right kind of attitude we are more than happy for them to compete.
Our Champions for Life programme is an amazing life skills programme that aims to develop positive habits within our youngsters. We focus on one particular characteristic for four weeks. Each member is provided with a worksheet that they are expected to complete and hand into to Sensei for marking. Successful members will be given a certificate, a badge for their uniform and a sticker for their wall chart. We have found that this is such an amazing programme and our parents have seen just how effective it can be at instilling positive habits for success within our youngsters.
Our leadership programme is called SWAT (Special, Winning, Attitude, Team). Students are specially selected if they have shown considerable focus and positive attitude. The SWAT are expected to support ours instructors in an earlier class. They are encouraged to deliver warm ups and participate in cool downs. They also correct basic errors in stance, hand and foot techniques. They choose the Star of the Class. This is the first step on to becoming Junior Instructors. The SWAT team have their own uniform which can be purchased from Sensei.
