Back to school with confidence

ree

Here we go again, September means the start of a new academic year and even the start of a new school. What do we want from the upcoming year? Well obviously we want our kids to thrive and have the best time possible.

Now we know that life will always bring challenges, there is nothing that we can do about that. So the best we can hope for is that our children are resilient enough to overcome what the new school year throws at them.

We all perceive challenges in different ways, what one child might just shrug off another child might grind to a halt. Whether it is getting organise for the day and taking responsibility for their own school bag, or perhaps getting the confidence to raise their hand in class. Its important that our children have the confidence to rise to the challenge.

This is where martial arts comes in, a child who trains in martial arts will develop a sense of self discipline and self control. Martial arts training will help children gain the confidence to learn from their mistakes, so many children have stigmatised getting things wrong and this is counter productive to effective learning. Being able to recognise that mistakes are just part of the learning process, a necessary part that aids progress is a valuable lesson. Being a martial artist with Red Dragons Martial Arts is tough, each grading event gets progressively harder and with each success the child's confidence grows. A confident child will raise their hand in class, they won't be afraid speak up, they won't be afraid to stand up for what they believe in. This is one of the most important things I think we can give our children because as they they grow up they will meet new influences and not always positive, so they will need to have the confidence to stay true to their values.

We are currently taking on new members in our venues in Bishopston, Horfield, Henleaze and Pill
